“If you dare to do it, at least the success rate is only 1%, but if you don’t dare to do anything, then your success rate is 0%” is the motto embodying the steel spirit of Nguyen Thi Hang, an alumna of PNV, a female technology engineer from Quang Binh province – a land filled with mist and wind. Hang’s life has gone through many challenges, but instead, the most precious thing – family – has been the golden motivation to push her to strive and achieve worthy accomplishments as she has today.

Family is The Main Motivation

“A happy family will raise happy children.” Hang is a girl with a disability in her leg, making her mobility challenging, but that doesn’t stop her. “Mom has always been there, helping me, teaching me many things to be independent since I was a child. Mom has helped Hang grow a lot,” Hang shares. Currently, Hang can live independently in a strange city.

The most precious thing about Hang’s parents is nurturing the educational path for their little daughter. Not a second did her parents stop encouraging Hang to study, for a stable and bright future for Hang, her parents could do anything to protect the lifelong aspirations. For Hang, the family has always been the place to lift dreams high and far, a strong motivation pushing Hang to grow up.

The Journey to Passion with Information Technology

Dreaming since childhood to be a kind and compassionate teacher. However, Hang recognized she couldn’t pursue it due to family circumstances. At the most confused time, a friend suggested Hang to explore the information technology field, and Hang pondered over those words. Fortunately, Passerelles Numeriques Vietnam (PNV) – a non-governmental organization providing free training in information technology programs – came into Hang’s life. Her relatives researched the school and conveyed the information to Hang, giving her the confidence to strive. Hang excellently obtained a scholarship from PNV, and from there, she was determined to seize this opportunity to change herself and aim for a bright future for both herself and her family. “It’s true that the profession chooses the person,” Hang smiles as she shares. That year, the student continued to fill her life’s knowledge book with passion for Information Technology at PNV.

Dare to think, dare to do – Changing Life

During her studies at PNV, Hang has honed many skills and equipped a vast knowledge base for herself. For Hang, a female technology engineer from PNV, the spirit of self-study is considered essential and crucial for everyone, especially as a student of PNV, the teachers instilled in her the ability to self-study, but the teachers were always there, ready to help anytime, anywhere. “The skill of self-study didn’t exist before, entirely dependent on textbooks, with no additional exploration, English wasn’t proficient at that time. At PNV, there’s a practical environment for me, helping me improve those skills, providing a lot of support for my future job.” Hang shares.

For Hang, realizing that the information technology field is highly developed, if she doesn’t study, she will be quickly left behind, so she arranged and dedicated a lot of time to self-improve. Subject knowledge alone isn’t enough; accompanying it is the need to develop soft skills and English. Hang consolidated, Hang applied it successfully, so that from a shy, introverted girl who couldn’t speak to anyone to now truly changing into a dynamic, active, and confident young woman. Hang confidently uses English to persuade recruiters, and now she has succeeded in becoming a software engineer for a large and prestigious technology company in Da Nang.

Perseverance Accompanies Change

To reap the sweet fruits like today, undoubtedly, the family’s support has always been the greatest motivation driving Hang’s development. Besides, perseverance is what makes her feel most proud when talking about herself. “Dare to go, dare to come, dare to think, dare to accept, and dare to do” is something not everyone has, but it is present in Nguyen Thi Hang’s personality. Pressure is something everyone has, but facing it is probably not easy. The cheerful technology engineer says: “Pressure isn’t meant to give up, but it’s the pressure to conquer it,” showing a very strong and clear personality of Hang. The journey was not easy; every step Hang took marked effort and wholeheartedness. There will be times of exhaustion, times of hesitation, but for Hang, having made the choice, dared to step forward, she cannot stop. Carrying a mission and nurturing the path of knowledge, Hang will change not only herself but also her beloved family.

The time of studying at PNV is probably a precious period for Hang, where she continued to pursue her and her parents’ dreams. It’s where she was equipped with a colossal toolkit to continue her long journey, a bright future awaiting her. PNV has and is providing many opportunities to escape poverty for these students, promoting a talented young generation, contributing to society.”
